Innovative design

GAF solar shingles represent a major innovation in the solar energy industry. Unlike traditional solar panels that sit on top of a roof, solar shingles are designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding roof shingles. This not only improves the aesthetic appearance of a home, but it also increases the efficiency of the solar energy system by reducing the amount of wasted space.

By incorporating solar energy technology directly into roofing materials, GAF solar shingles are a revolutionary way to produce clean energy while simultaneously protecting and enhancing the roof of your home.

Financing made easy

If you're looking to reduce the monthly cost of your solar shingle roof project, financing is an excellent option. By stretching out the payment over a period of 10, 15, 20, or even 25 years, it's possible to lower your monthly payments to an amount that is lower than your current electric bill.

At NWC, we've teamed up with Mosaic to provide financing options that are competitive and enable you to bring your sustainable home to life.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do solar shingles work?

Solar shingles is a roofing system that integrates solar panels or shingles into its design to generate electricity. The solar shingles are made up of photovoltaic cells that convert sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity. An inverter then converts the DC electricity into alternating current (AC) electricity that can be used to power your home.

will solar shingles reduce my electricity bill?

Your home's monthly energy consumption is an important factor to consider when deciding if solar panels are a good fit for you. If your monthly electricity bill exceeds $75, then solar panels could be a viable option. During our consultation, one of our NWC representatives will review your energy consumption to determine the best placement for solar shingles to meet your monthly energy needs. Our goal is to ensure that you get the most out of your solar shingles installation.

Will a solar roof increase my home's value?

Yes, installing a solar roof can increase the value of your home. According to a study by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), homes with solar panels sold for 17% more than homes without solar panels.

Do I get a Federal Tax Credit for Switching to Solar?

Yes, there is a Federal Tax Credit for switching to solar energy. We recommends that you talk to your tax consultant about the earned credit. You can also learn more information HERE

Are there any Benefits to Solar Energy?

A study by the University of Berkeley found that solar homes emit 80% less carbon than homes that rely on fossil fuels. Additionally, the U.S. Energy Information Administration discovered that solar homes can potentially reduce emissions equivalent to planting 150 trees per year.

The production of solar energy comes at no cost. By generating clean energy, you can use, store, or even sell it. Unlike traditional electricity sources, such as natural gas, nuclear, and coal, solar energy does not require any water consumption for cooling purposes. This means that using solar energy does not put a strain on local water supplies. According to Climate Central, power generation for cooling purposes consumes 38% of the freshwater in the United States.

What is Net Metering?

On sunny summer days, your solar shingles will generate energy, and you may end up generating more than you can use. The excess energy is then sent back to the grid, causing your electric meter to run backward. This is known as net metering, a billing tool that credits you for any excess, unused energy.

You can use these credits on a cloudy day or during off-peak seasons when your solar shingles are not generating enough energy. In most cases, you will earn credits on your future invoices instead of receiving cash or a check for the excess energy generated. We aim to be as close to 100% offset as possible and avoid creating an excessive amount of credit for you.

What does Tier 1 Solar Mean?

GAF is a top-rated solar manufacturer and has achieved Tier 1 classification, which requires meeting several benchmarks. This means that GAF owns its supply chain, invests heavily in research and development, and utilizes advanced robotic processes for its products. GAF has been manufacturing solar panels for more than five years, which is another requirement for achieving Tier 1 classification.

To achieve a Tier 1 classification, solar manufacturers must showcase their expertise and innovation, demonstrating their commitment to a sustainable future. GAF was recently honored with the Best Innovation award at CES 2022 for their Timberline Solar Energy Shingle, which highlights their dedication to delivering innovative solutions to customers.

What Is The Difference Between Grid-Tie and Off-Grid Solar?

Grid-tied systems are connected to the electrical grid, allowing homeowners to sell excess energy and earn credits. Off-grid systems are not connected to the power grid, making the home self-sustaining. Off-grid homes require large battery systems to store energy for off-peak times.
